Our Instructors
Our instructors are extremely innovative and certified by the Brazilian Kitesurfing Association (ABK) and by the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO). Your classes can be in 4 languages: Portuguese, English, French, and Spanish.
Four days, in order.
This is how the basic course goes. The pace depends on you and on the wind.
- Day 1Praia do Cumbuco, on the sand
Safety and the kite
A small trainer kite on dry sand. You learn how the wind window works and how to stop everything with one hand.
- Setting up and packing down the gear
- The safety systems and how to use them
- Launching and landing the kite
- Day 2Lagoa do Cauípe, waist-deep water
Body drag
Your first time with a big kite, in flat water with your feet on the bottom. No board yet.
- Body drag with me, then on your own
- Handling the kite in the water without the board
- Relaunching the kite from the water, both ways
- Day 3Lagoa do Cauípe
The board
Upwind body drag to fetch a lost board, self-rescue, and then the water start.
- Upwind body drag and getting the board back
- Self-rescue when a line breaks or the kite tears
- Water start: kite and board together
- Day 4Lagoa do Cauípe
Riding
You stand up, you ride, you come back. We spend the day making that repeatable.
- Standing up and holding an edge
- Finding and using the wind window
- Riding longer, in both directions
Safety
Kitesurfing while practicing safety standards is NOT a dangerous sport. Therefore you should learn to kitesurf with qualified instructors.
At what age can I learn?
There is no age limit for starting the sport. Children and even Seniors are fit to practice Kitesurf, provided they meet the prerequisites.
